The End?

We can feel how the end of an amazing year is living his mark in history. Maybe, no in the Mundial History, but yes in each of us.
These last few days could be used to remind this past year... What did I do? What did I learn? Friends, family...
This year was epic.
It involves the start of a new period in my life, and with this one, new subjects and knowledge.
I had discovered how I can create a blog, but, not alone.
With the help of new classmates that they become friends.
Laughs, work, imagination, teamwork, innovation, creativity and a piece of crazy.
Those things were lived while we were applying new tips from the world of information and communication.
Now, when I enter on any social network or when I write a new post, I value the job that others did.
I mean, the blogs of other writers, the presentation of their image on the Internet...etc.
Before meeting this new subject, I was thinking of how would be creating your own blog, now I know.
If you wanna see it, here I let a piece of this Mythological Blog.
Wish you like it.

Goodbyes

Hi guys,

This is not another interesting post about mythology. Now I am only saying goodbye to you all, because it has been a pleasure to live the fascinating experience of classic mythology with you during this semester. I love classic antiquity and I hope that with our weekly publications we have also brought you closer to this exciting world. We also had to write about the way all this information was published in the web, and I also hope that we have transmitted it well because it was a real task😂 W had to do that because this blog was a mandatory target of a course that we have made from Information and Communication Technologies. I have learn and enjoy a lot and it is a shame to say goodbye but you can always continue researching with the information that we have left you in the blog and currying on the internet, because there are really very interesting pages.

It only remains for me to wish you good luck and to ask you never to stop looking for knowledge.

Farewell, Maria Martinez Serrano.

Images and Culture

Good morning everyone,
Today I want to show you a Youtube video channel created by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), which explains the myth of the Odyssey and the historical context of this story. With an audiovisual medium, and in the form of a short film, this company perfectly explains the reason of this history in particular in Ancient Greece, and its social impact on the thinking of the time.

The video is 56:36 mins long and has 40 views and 0 likes/dislikes and also 0 comments. Taking into account that the video was posted on February 9th of 2018, it does not seem like an absolute disaster. In addition YouTube is not a social network in which it must be taken into account the likes / dislikes and comments of the videos; since users see hundreds of videos a day and very few think of giving it a like or comment unless they have enjoyed a lot. I suppose the fact that the video lasts almost 1 hour; it also determines the views and that the users do not hold until the end of it to assess whether they liked it or not. It's a real shame because the video is very well done and the story is very well told.

The video is so special and understanding because it is told in form of  story so you follow all the explanation until the end. But nevertheless I think the company have not given its video the enough promotion. It has been published by an individual user, maybe it is a pirate video and I have not noticed. It would probably be why the company has not taken over this multimedia content. On YouTube it is impossible to control that, you never know.

Anyway I recommend to watch it if you want to learn more about the Odyssey.

If you are interested in another video about myths I also recommend you to watch this one, about the story of The King Edipo.

Noises and sounds

Nowadays, the use of audios to transmit information is not very widespread. It is true that the audiovisual media is the one of the main means of communication and also in
transmitting academic information. But I would not say the same about hearing media: voice notes (only daytime communication), radio, etc. It seems to me that today's society needs images, videos, animations to really assimilate the information. The auditory medium alone remains quite short.

Anyway, I found an audio on YouTube that explains the myth of The Flight of Icarus briefly and concisely. I attached the link so you all can enjoy it.

This audio first makes a brief introduction to the myth and explains the meaning and the moral that the Greeks gave to this story. The voice of the narrator of the story has also caught my attention, that the calm and clear, which is very important for the correct understanding of the information; and a background sound that accompanied the story very well.

Timelines

Hello everyone,
Here is another website about mythology, but now it is in form of a timeline!

Why timelines? It is supposed that mythology didn´t have a time or space, because it were not true stories. Right and not. Mythology was for the Greeks a perfectly valid way of explaining their reality, so if we know the time and places where these stories were originated then we will know much more about their customs, culture and way of understanding their world. The myths had a date of origin ( although this is very difficult to know) and a territory or population among those who were more widespread. For this reason it is important to take a look at this timeline that explains very well the topic that concerns us.

The timelines of this website are static ones, but there is a huge list of names, events and myths with links below them that complete all the information shown in the timelines.

Also below the principal timeline; which shows the most important information in a brief way, and the versions and dates that have been mostly accepted; there is another list about all the mythological events, with all the different characters and the possible dates in order to each source (historians, literature of the time, etc)

Also, in the top of the web page there is more links for characters, places, topics, images and bibliography; if the information provided by the timelines is not enough. On the other hand, there is in the bottom of the website other links to other charts made by the same person who did this page. I recommend you all to take a look to the ones of  TheogonyMyths of CreationHistorical Context of the MythsContemporaries 800 BC - AD 600. They are explained in the same way the other timelines do: static way with an explanation and links with information below. It would be better if the two actions could be done in one, and the timeline allowed the user to interact with the information; but I suppose this is much difficult to create and it also require much more time. Nonetheless, this is a perfect example of a complete timeline in the web.

Good Bye and Good Luck

The end of this semester has come and, therefore, the end of my posts in this blog. It has been a pleasure to be able to write in this blog about something that interests me: mythology. I was able to learn a lot about not only mythology itself, but also the many medias and resources there are to access information about mythology. It has been as much a learning experience for me, as for whoever may read this. When we first started the blog, I wasn't sure if I would like writing a blog, or if it would be a tedious task. Truthfully, some weeks it was a bit difficult to muster up the motivation to write an entire post, but I toughed it out and I'm proud of the posts I've made in the blog. I will leave you with a list of my previous posts and I wish you good luck in your future research!

Ancient Greece in a glance (Interactive Maps)

Hi guys,
Today I would like to show this website which explains Ancient Greece in a very interesting way.

It has maps of Ancient Greece important cities, colonies, palaces, temples, mythological places (where is thought they were believed to be ), locations of important battles... It also have a complete timeline of this civilization, some typical constructions and important examples, a historical section, and also one for art, museums, archaeology and photographs. I am going to focus on the interactive maps it has about this ancient civilization.

This This way of presenting the information is much more useful and didactic for the user, who can see the different regions, cities, colonies, and also can be informed about each of them in some links and files that are uploaded in relation to each place. The user can learn about the customs of each place and the myths and stories related to it; at the same time that geographically relates each site with its current situation. This is a total and absolute immersion in the most important civilization and culture in our history.

I recommend you to go through this website to continue learning about mythology and classical culture.

The End?
